Home office furniture lets you set up a functional workstation in any corner of your home —bedroom, living room, spare room or study— without resorting to corporate office solutions that are oversized for domestic use. In this category you will find straight, corner and sit-stand electric desks, swivel office chairs and gaming armchairs, drawer units with castors, metal shelving and connectors that let you join several pieces in a single working plane. The range is designed for remote work, study and personal projects in flats and apartments where space is at a premium and the furniture has to fit in with the rest of the décor.

What makes up a home office

A home workstation is usually built from four elements: a desk that defines the area, a swivel chair with adjustable height, close-at-hand storage —a mobile drawer unit or low organiser— and a vertical piece for books, files or material you do not use every day. This category brings each component together separately, so you can start with the desk and chair and grow the set as actual usage justifies. For L-shaped layouts there are dedicated connectors —Nevada or BRW Office style— that let you join two desks at an angle without buying a fixed corner piece.

Desks: sizes, shapes and sit-stand electric tables

Desks cover widths from 100 to 180 cm with depths of 56 to 76 cm, sizes suitable both for a single monitor and for dual-screen setups. Corner models such as Nevada Corner 158.5 cm or the 140 cm Space Office solutions make use of the room corner and double the working surface without taking over the rest of the space. Sit-stand electric desks —Space Office 160 cm and Emil 2 Gaming 120 cm— include a motor that adjusts the top height so you can alternate between sitting and standing work, an option increasingly recommended for long screen days. Some desks, such as Holten or Nuis, build a drawer and a door into the piece itself, which reduces the need for a separate drawer unit.

Office swivel chairs and gaming armchairs

There are two clear families of chairs. The classic swivel chairs with fabric upholstery —Ned, Alex, Odo, Renova— are designed for daily use and short meetings, with adjustable height, multi-directional castors and a tilt mechanism. Ergonomic models such as Ergolex add a high back, lumbar support and a headrest for longer sessions, while gaming armchairs combine a sport-style back with contrasted black-grey upholstery or other bold combinations. For workstations shared by several people it is worth choosing mechanisms with multi-position locking and certified pneumatic lift, and checking that the chair handles the weight of the tallest user in the household without play.

Drawer units, shelving and organisers

Close-at-hand storage solves two problems: freeing up the desk surface and keeping items you use every day within reach —cables, notebooks, paperwork, peripherals—. Drawer units from 40 to 50 cm wide —Nevada, Space Office 42 cm, Space Office 50 cm— sit under the desktop or beside it, and many come with castors so you can move them around as needed. Mike-style metal shelving units, light and shallow, work as extra vertical storage in very tight spaces. Organisers round off the set by sorting folders, books and consumables without having to bring in a full cupboard.

Finishes and styles: oak, white and graphite

The finish palette is designed so the home office blends with the rest of your home. Oak tones —Oak Artisan, Oak Sonoma, Oak Wotan, Oak Riviera— work well in living rooms and bedrooms with natural-tone furniture, while darker Oak Flagstaff brings more character to contemporary settings. White and graphite are the most versatile choice for flats with limited daylight or minimalist interiors. Fronts are made of boards that resist humidity and continuous use, with protected edges and fittings designed for a long service life under intensive remote-work days.

Budget guidance and where to start

For a basic remote-work setup, the minimum kit starts from around €50 for the simplest chair and around €120 for the most compact desk. Moving up the range, straight desks of 140–180 cm sit between €165 and €380, sit-stand electric tables are around €385, and the largest corner desks reach roughly €700. If the budget is tight, prioritise the chair —it is the piece that most affects postural health— and start with a straight desk, leaving the drawer unit and the shelving for a second phase. With medium and higher budgets it pays to choose an electric or corner model from the start, because changing the desk later forces you to dismantle the whole workstation.
